Fire Safety Training

Fire is an Unwanted and unintended fire can cause a lot of damages and dead. This is why unwanted and unintended fires must be extinguished as fast as possible. This will be covered in this topic “

Fire Safety Awareness Training provides essential knowledge to help staff prevent, identify, and respond to fire risks in the workplace. The course covers fire prevention strategies, evacuation procedures, fire classifications, and the safe use of extinguishers and fire blankets.

Learners gain a clear understanding of legal responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and how to act decisively during emergencies.

Suitable for all sectors—including care, education, retail, and hospitality—it supports safer environments and helps organisations meet health and safety obligations.

Ideal for induction, refresher training, or general awareness, this course builds confidence and promotes a proactive fire safety culture.

Golden Rules

Rule One  Fight the fire only if trained and it is   safe to do so

Rule Two  Always keep yourself between the fire   and your escape route

Rule Three  Do not fight fires in confined spaces

Rule Four  When dealing with fires involving   electrical equipment isolate the supply   before tackling fire.

Is fire safety training a legal requirement in the UK?

Yes, fire safety training is mandatory under the UK’s Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Employers must ensure that all staff receive adequate fire safety instruction—starting at induction and continuing whenever new risks arise. This includes training on fire prevention, evacuation procedures, alarm systems, and the safe use of equipment.

Staff with specific responsibilities, such as fire wardens or fire marshals, must also receive additional, role-specific training to meet legal requirements. Failure to provide appropriate training can result in prosecution if it puts individuals at risk.

Training must be provided when employees start work and should be repeated periodically, with a minimum recommendation of once a year. Regular refresher sessions and practical exercises are strongly recommended to maintain compliance and ensure staff can respond confidently in an emergency.

Failure to provide this training can result in prosecution, fines, or even imprisonment in severe cases, particularly if a fire occurs due to non-compliance. Employers must also ensure that training is delivered by a competent person with the appropriate skills and knowledge.
